Serving the community is one of the most rewarding experiences. Please connect with local pantries, shelters and community centers to help those that are less fortunate or volunteer at an after school program. Organize a group of people that are eager to help the community as well.
Yesterday at The Lord’s Pantry my best friends, my little sister, a group of elementary students and parents and myself helped serve the families in the surrounding neighborhood for dinner.
Helping out at the pantry was a very humbling moment. It brought tears to my eyes to see the kids trying to take their food home with them in case they didn’t eat again.
I greeted every person I met with a smile and checked back on them throughout their meal. There was a steady flow of people coming in and out for the entire time I was there.
Being able to bless others with a smile and a kind word will go a long way. Take time to appreciate those around you and then reach out to people in your community and other communities that are less fortunate.
Extend a helping hand.
Pleas join us next week if you are in the Indianapolis area to help serve dinner on Wednesday night from 5:00-7:30 pm. If you get off at 5, don’t hesitate to come; they are are always in need of extra hands to serve food and beverages, warm up the food items as well as for cleanup.
